Steve Rowswell has an extensive background in business and the financial services industry that began in 1981. He served as Vice President for two wire house firms, before joining an international business consulting group. Later, Steve worked for two major banks, and served as a top-secret master planner for a defense contractor where he practiced creating and implementing complex financial plans.
His philosophy for financial management and work ethic began at an early age. Whether it took mowing lawns, throwing newspapers, or commercial fishing to pay for his college education at the University of Florida, Steve graduated in 1980 with no debt. Next, he graduated from the Dean Witter account executive training program in 1981, and became a leading equity and option trader for the firm.
STEVE ROWSWELL CCO, IAR
In 1987, although very successful in trading through the October market turmoil, Steve witnessed the failure of what he thought was an efficient trading market. This experience moved him to resign from the large wire house hoopla, and begin an estate and financial planning practice. Steve leveraged his knowledge base, and created a state approved adult continuing education program and taught financial planning at the local community colleges. In the late-'80s, Steve received his first life insurance appointment, and soon followed that up with annuity and health appointments. These appointments led to a booming financial and estate planning business as Steve learned how to use life insurance and annuities to mitigate risk and offset estate taxes for his clients.
In the early-'90s, Steve successfully completed a comprehensive training program for securities arbitration. He became a member of the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD) board of arbitrators in 1992, possessing subject matter expertise in stock and option trading. Soon after this appointment, he was hired by a consulting group, and traveled the world as a successful international business consultant.
Steve settled down in the North Palm Beach area in the mid-'90s, and then launched a successful internet service provider. In 2008, he came out of retirement and began serving as a master planner and financial analyst with Top Secret clearance issued by the Department of Defense with Lockheed Martin. In 2012, Steve opened GA Advisors, LLC, and in 2014, he resigned from Lockheed Martin to devote himself full time to growing his financial planning practice.
The combination of these experiences, licenses, and an intimate understanding of the markets, risk, and technology, qualify Steve as a subject matter expert in financial planning. Steve is married to Jodylynne for 36 years, and has two adult children. His daughter has a design business, and his son serves as a senior software architect for Florida Power and Light. Both are married, and his son has one child. Steve attends Calvary Chapel Jupiter. He has also been known to catch a few fish in his life, has made quite a few birdies, and can claim one hole-in-one (166Yards).
